Human rights activists bloody hypocrites: Omar Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today lashed out at human rights activists and local media for not reacting to the killing of a youth in Sopore town of Baramulla district.

"A young man was shot dead in Sopore yesterday for no apparent fault of his. Where the hell are all the irate voices? Bloody hypocrites," Omar wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter.com.

Unidentified gunmen last night shot dead 34-year-old Mohsin Ahmad Wani in Sopore town, 55km from Srinagar.

The Chief Minister said there were no messages for him in his account on Twitter as neither army nor police was involved in the killing of the youth.

"Mohsin was a businessman, doing business in Sopore. Shot by militants last night. No wonder my TL (Twitter Line) is silent as it wasn't by army/police (sic)," Omar wrote.

He said he understood that the incident took place well past the deadlines for the national media organisations but lashed out at local media outlets for not publishing the story about the incident prominently.

"It was too late to make the national deadlines but made it to the local papers here, hidden in a corner somewhere obviously," he said in response to a comment from one of his 38,000 followers on Twitter.
