Pillai, who is in Kathmandu for the two-day bilateral security meeting with his Nepalese counterpart Govinda Kusum, met Premier Nepal and Home Minister Bhim Rawal.

During his talks with the two Nepalese leaders, matters of mutual concern and security issues were discussed, the Prime Minister's Press Adviser Vishnu Rijal said.

Earlier in the day, Pillai and Kusum launched their crucial talks during which an extradition treaty is expected to be signed.

The two sides are also likely to formulate a border security and management strategy apart from discussing real-time exchange of information on Maoists and coordination among border districts to tackle drugs and fake currency smugglers, official sources said.

Besides, a pact on Mutual Legal Assistance is expected to be concluded during the meeting.
