In a seemingly bizarre case, a woman in western Uttar Pradesh (UP) has lodged a criminal complaint against Hollywood actor Justin Chatwin, charging him with hacking her Facebook and email accounts and mobile connection. Police, however, are clueless about how to proceed against the alleged accused based in the US and Spain.
A senior UP police officer told DNA that Alka Singh, a resident of Indirapuram in Ghaziabad district, had lodged a complaint alleging that Chatwin had hacked her email and Facebook accounts and was sending mischievous messages to her contacts from her profile. She has also alleged that Chatwin and his friends had managed to break into her mobile network and had been listening in to her telephonic conversations, causing great mental agony to her and her family members.
Chatwin and associates are continuing the mischief despite several warnings and messages sent to them via internet, the woman said in her complaint.
Police have registered a case under Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000, but are apparently helpless about how to proceed.
“At this stage, we do not know whether the Hollywood actor himself is involved or his ID is being used by some mischief-makers,” Ghaziabad police chief Raghubir Lal said. He said Alka had named four others, besides Chatwin, in her complaint.
