The principal of DAV Public school Tarun Kumar Das and his wife were killed and their son seriously injured when their car collided with a trailer truck at Balibhasa village in West Midnapore district on NH-6 yesterday.
Das (45) and his wife(38) died on the spot, 40 km from Kharagpur.
Their 14-year-old son, Devdutta, who was seriously injured was admitted to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital. Later he was shifted to a Kolkata hospital.
The family was going to their ancestral home at Baleswar in Orissa, the police said.
Das was the principal of the DAV school within the IIT complex in Kharagpur. His son was a class 8 student of the same school.
