Three people died in rain-related incidents in Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh, lashed by downpour for the past over one week, taking the death toll in the state this season to 60.
Torrential rains pounded Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh claiming nine lives while mercury rose in some parts of north India, including the national capital, in the absence of showers today.
Six people perished in heavy rains lashing parts of Chattisgarh, including capital Raipur, since last evening. The downpour triggered flash floods in Surguja, Janjgir and Dantewada districts from where most of the casualties were reported.

Major rivers continued to swell resulting in a flood-like situation in a number of districts of the state. Fafamau in Allahabad received 28.8 mm while Chatnag was drenched by 23.6 mm of rains.
Meanwhile, with rains eluding the national capital for another day today, mercury rose by a few notches in the city which experienced high humidity levels touching 86%.
The maximum stood at 36.4 deg C, two notches above normal, against 34.9 deg C the previous day while the minimum too rose by almost a notch from that of yesterday to settle at 28.7 deg C.
Temperatures also showed a rising trend in the region comprising Punjab and Haryana in the absence of rains.
Hisar was the hottest at 37 degrees, a notch above normal, followed by Ambala 35.7 deg C, up by two notches, Patiala 35.3 deg C, Chandigarh 35 deg C, Ludhiana 34.5 deg C, Karnal 34 deg C and Amritsar 33 deg C.
However, the Met office has forecast moderate to rather heavy rain or thunder showers at a few places in the region.
In Rajasthan, an alert was sounded in Barmer district where heavy rains for the past three days inundated a number of villages. However water has started receding with the rains subsiding a little towards the later part of the day.
However, elsewhere in the desert state, the intensity of rains was very less with Udaipur recording 5 cm rainfall followed by Chittorgarh 3.8 cm and Ajmer 2.0 cm.
