Hawala dealer Arvind Vyas, who is under interrogation following his detention at the Mumbai international airport this Thursday, has revealed fresh details of overseas investments of approximately Rs100 crore that was facilitated by him on behalf of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda.

Vyas has also told interrogators that Koda gang had recently fixed a deal to buy a gold mine in Sierra Lone in a joint venture with a Swedish firm.

The gold mine deal was allegedly being fixed on behalf of Koda gang by Sanjay Choudhury and Binod Sinha. Both the accused are absconding.

Choudhury is suspected to be in Dubai. “Details of some overseas investments have emerged which were not known earlier. Investigation is on,” said a senior official from the Enforcement Directorate. It is suspected that Anil Vastavade, a key player who is suspected to be in Dubai had asked Vyas to come to Dubai.

Koda’s front company Balaji Bullion and Retailers was used by the accused for transferring huge sums through hawala for investments in Dubai, Thailand, Indonesia, Sweden, Liberia and elsewhere.

Investigators believe Balaji Bullion made transactions of over Rs1400 crore. Transactions also included cash transaction of over Rs100 crore.
