Congress today wished a "healthy and long life" to Yoga Guru Ramdev, who was shifted to hosptial in Dehra Dun today with his condition worsening today, the seventh day of his indefinite fast.

"We wish him a healthy and long life," was the brief refrain of party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi at the AICC briefing in response to a volley of questions on Ramdev's health.

Dwivedi also parried a question, saying "I have not seen those pictures" when asked to comment on photos showing proximity of the Baba with Union minister Kamal Nath.

A senior Congress leader speaking on the condition of anonymity said that the party did not want the Baba to even begin his fast when asked whether the party could make an appeal to Ramdev to end his fast.

Amid high drama, Yoga guru Ramdev, whose indefinite fast entered seventh day in Haridwar, was shifted to a hospital in Dehra Dun as doctors attending on him opined that his health parametres were "worrisome".

A Patanjali Yogapeeth spokesman claimed that the decision to shift Ramdev to a hospital was taken by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, who gave directions to Haridwar District Magistrate in this regard.

Doctors, who examined Ramdev in the morning, had said that he needed immediate hospitalisation.
