Haryana announces relief measures for flood-hit farmers

Announcing two major concessions for farmers badly hit by the floods, chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said it has been decided to waive 50% lease money for those who had taken panchayat land on lease.

Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today reviewed the flood situation in the state and announced relief measures for farmers, who have suffered heavy losses due to the recent floods.

Announcing two major concessions for farmers badly hit by the floods, he said it has been decided to waive 50% lease money for those who had taken panchayat land on lease.

He said it has also been decided to compensate power dues of farmers whose tubewells have remained submerged during the floods or whose land was affected by floods.

Compensation would also be given to all the farmers whose tubewells have been damaged due to the floods.

Asking the deputy commissioners to get the survey of damaged tubewells completed along with special 'girdwari' (agricultural loss assessment) by August 15, he said the state government was fully aware of the plight of the farmers who have suffered due to the flood fury.

He said the state government was impressing upon the Central government to expedite the release of assistance so that farmers and other affected persons could be compensated at the earliest possible.
