The day-long hartal called by BJP to protest killing of two of its workers here yesterday partially crippled normal life in the district and adjoining Mahe enclave of Puducherry.
  
Stones were pelted at four vehicles, including three Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses,allegedly by supporters of the hartal, in which a driver of a state owned vehicle sustained injuries, police said.

Majority of the shops and business establishments remained closed following the hartal.
  
No major untoward incidents were reported so far from the district, they said.
  
Two BJP activists were killed when they were attacked with crude bombs and stabbed allegedly by CPI-M wokers at New Mahe ysterday when they were proceeding on a motorcycle after appearing in court in connection with a attempt to murder case involving CPI-M workers.
