HAL scouting for land in Gujarat

Close on the heels of Maruti Suzuki's search for land in Gujarat to set up a plant, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), which functions under the ministry of defence, is also scouting for land in the state.

Close on the heels of Maruti Suzuki’s search for land in Gujarat to set up a plant, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), which functions under the ministry of defence, is also learnt to be scouting for land in the state to come up with a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) project for helicopters.

HAL, the public sector company which develops and manufactures advanced light helicopter (ALH) Dhruve for Indian defence forces, is interested in setting up a green field project for MRO of helicopters at an investment of Rs4,000 crore.

The Bangalore-based company, requires around 600 acre land for the project. However, it is considering locations in other states also, said state government officials. A delegation from HAL visited the state on May 30 and 31 and held discussions with state govt.
