Gujarat University students accuse lab assistant of sexual harassment

In a shocking incident, girl students of Department of Psychology of Gujarat University have made serious allegations of sexual harassment against the lab assistant of the department. According to female students of MA - psychology, the lab assistant tried to touch them during lab experiment sessions that happened in the last two years.

According to the students, they did not raise their voice as the lab assistant claimed to know the vice-chancellor and other senior officials of Gujarat University very well. To save their degree, they waited for two years, and made a written representation to all the concerned authorities after recently clearing their MA.

The complaint against the lab assistant includes indecent gestures to the girls, including repeated attempts to touch them during the lab sessions.

Girls also alleged that the lab assistant used to lure them with a promise of high percentage if they accepted his indecent proposals, as he claimed to have influence with the GU authorities.

To save the next batch of girl students from such harassments, these passouts have written to the governor, vice-chancellor and state education minister on Friday. However, vice-chancellor Parimal Trivedi denied receiving any such letter.  "But, If we find the charges to be true, severe action will be taken against the lab assistant," assured the V-C.
