A day after a gang robbed a Maninagar-based jeweler, the Ghatlodia police have finally started tracing the gang members. On Sunday, it was revealed that an angadia man was also duped by the same gang of Rs6.5 lakh. Further, cops have also found out that there is a brother-sister duo among the gang members.

"We are yet to find out the gang but we have come to know that Malay Dave and his sister Meghna work for the gang which has four members. The brother-sister duo parted ways from their family long back and now lives alone. There could also be other members in the gang," said a police official.

The gang came into spotlight when Mahendra Patel of Harishri Jewellers in Maninagar filed a complaint on Saturday after being allegedly cheated by Manish Patel and his niece who purchased jewellery worth Rs10 lakh without making payments.

According to police, the presence of a girl in the gang also reveals that how organized the group is. The gang takes its victims into confidence using this female member. Police visited the father of the girl in Gota area who said that his children, Malay and Meghna, do not live with him anymore.

Police said that gang would make a series of visits to their victims and develop a close bond with them. The gang uses the female member to build up trust and then strike. Police claimed that the investigation is on and there could be many other cases in the fray.
