With Viramgam police arresting one more youngster involved in abducting and raping a 14-year-old girl from Raiyapur village in Viramgam taluka, the police have finally rounded up all the four accused in the heinous case.

Based on complaint by the victim, police had earlier arrested Yousuf Mandal, Saddam, and Mehboob on Saturday. However, Irshad Sipahi, the fourth culprit, was absconding after the incident. Based on a tip off, Sipahi was finally nabbed by cops on Sunday.

On Wednesday, when the minor girl was on her way home from school in the evening, the four accused had abducted her in an auto rickshaw and took her to an undisclosed location where they took turns in raping her.

After outraging her modesty, the culprits allegedly threatened her that they will kill her and her parents if she filed a police complaint or disclosed about the incident to anyone. The battered and terrified girl then came back home and washed her clothes, but her unnatural behaviour gave away her inner turmoil. Her parents learnt about the gang rape on Saturday and approached police to nab the culprits.

According to RC Pathak, DySP of Viramgam, many circumstantial evidences were also found from the spot as well as from the accused, which are enough to prove the case. Since the area is communally sensitive, police have put extra force in and around the village to avoid any unwarranted situation. "Local are angry after the incident, but the situation is under control. The medical report of the girl also confirmed about the rape" said Pathak.

Meanwhile, senior police officials of Ahmedabad district have taken a serious note about the abduction and gang rape of a minor in their area. According to Rajiv Ranjan Bhagat, Superintendent of Police - Ahmedabad, the police will try their best to make sure that the accused will get death sentence for their heinous crime.

"We have taken all the evidences to strengthen our case. We have acquired clothes, body fluids and body hairs of accused as evidences. This is serious crime and the punishment for such crimes may go up to death sentence" said Bhagat, who is closely observing the developments. According to him, no past crime records of these accused is found yet. "But, we have alerted all the near by police stations to fetch any past information about the crimes committed by the accused" said Bhagat.
