Union railway minister Dinesh Trivedi has made two big announcements for Gujarat, for which he is seeking state government's cooperation. He proposed establishing a new coach manufacturing unit in Kutch area in Gujarat, with active participation of the state government.

Similarly, he announced a bullet train or high-speed rail running between Ahmedabad and Pune, for which Indian Railways needs state government support. In his speech, he said, "The high-speed corridors are capital-intensive and resource issues need to be addressed with innovative funding mechanism and significant government support to make them a reality. The cooperation of state governments is a precondition to the success of high-speed rail initiatives."

In reply, minister of state for industries, Saurabh Patel confirmed state government's support to the Centre. "We will give the all necessary support to the Indian Railways for any projects in Gujarat," said Patel.
