Gujarat police ready for Godhra judgment day

The Ahmedabad police have announced tight security measures for February 22, the day judgment in the Godhra train carnage case will be announced. Giving details about the arrangements, joint commissioner of police, Satish Sharma, said, "We have made elaborate security arrangements to maintain peace on February 22.

Special security measures will be in place for important and sensitive places in the city. Apart form city police officials and jawans, 20 companies of SRP will be deployed to maintain law & order."

Five additional companies of SRP or Border Wing, one company of RAF, and home-guards will also be deployed in the city. Senior police officials from outside the city and 500 police personnel from headquarters will also be roped in for the day. Sharma said that one company of SRP has been deployed at Sabarmati Jail, the venue where the judgment will be pronounced.
