Two days after arresting notorious gangster Mukesh Harjani from Punjab, Gujarat police on Thursday arrested his three aides, including his right-hand man Devang Brahmbhatt. They are all residents of Anand and are wanted in the kidnapping of Bhavin Patel of Anand.

Bhatt, 27, was nabbed along with Shailesh Makwana alias Fighter, 21 and Samir Patel, 21, in a joint operation by Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) and Vadodara police. Cops recovered seven mobile phones, six SIM cards, foreign currency notes, credit cards and debit cards from them, DCB said on Friday.

The crime branch said that Brahmbhatt was a key aide to Harjani and had masterminded Anand corporator Alpesh Patel alias Chaka's murder to stamp the Vadodara gangster's authority in Anand. He used to help him financially and also sheltered Harjani's sharpshooters, the DCB further said.

Police said that Brambhatt used to identify targets to  be kidnapped for ransom for Harjani.

After his name surfaced in Bhavin Patel kidnapping case, he escaped abroad on the advice of Harjani. Bhavin Patel is brother of KD Patel, who is a witness in the Chaka murder case. The gang had abducted Bhavin to force his brother to testify in defence of Harjani and Brahmbhatt, DCB added.

The cops further said that Shailesh and Samir were also close to Harjani and had their hand in the kidnapping of Bhavin Patel. The trio has been handed over to Anand police. Incidentally, Viky, another Harjani aide was nabbed along with the 42-years-old gangster from Punjab.
