Surat SOG officials stumbled upon some surprising facts while investigating woman Naxalite Sujatha's background. It has come to light that Sujatha had enrolled herself into MTB College under a fake name and made fail attempts to promote Red thoughts among students. However, cops are yet to find out as to who financed Sujatha and provided her the required support.

Based on the information gathered while interrogating Sujatha Ramaswamy, 28, cops found that she took admission at MTB College in Surat and stayed in the hostel for 19 months.

Interestingly, she took admission under fake name of Mayank Singh, originally from UP and now residing in Mumbai. Sujatha did this by producing fake documents of Singh to college authorities. During her study and stay at hostel, Sujatha often tried to lure co-students towards red brigade, but was never successful. She even tried to gain faith of students from tribal areas, which too failed.

"Finding that her efforts have gone awry, Sujatha left study and returned to Mumbai and from there went to her home town in Andhra Pradesh. She studied in Patkar College, where she produced her actual certificates. It is still to be investigated as to how she obtained duplicate certificates of Singh," an SOG official said, requesting anonymity.

A team of officials recently went to Mumbai to collect more information about Sujatha's history and her contacts. They found that Singh a resident of Ghatkopar was studying at Swaminarayan College in Chembur. However, cops could not take statement of Singh as he shifted to another place. Meanwhile, police recovered some important documents associated with the case.

Police are also concentrating on the financial help received by Sujatha. Investigations reveal that Sujatha's father is a farmer in his village, with more than five members to support. Cops are trying to find out as to who helped Sujatha in getting admission in Mumbai's college and arranged for her accommodation and other expenses.

Another concern for police is to trace out network developed by Sujatha in South Gujarat region. Sources in the police department said that she used to frequently visit interior villages in the region to promote Naxalism.
