All Opposition MLAs were suspended from the assembly for the second day in a row on Thursday after they shouted slogans demanding dismissal of the two BJP MLAs who allegedly watched obscene material on an iPad in the House two days ago.

A day after the Speaker handed over probe into the alleged scandal to the assembly’s privilege committee, the assembly saw as many as four adjournments over the issue.

The House was adjourned for the first time just two minutes into the session, as Congress MLAs shouted slogans demanding dismissal of the two MLAs Shankar Chaudhary and Jetha Bharwad.

During the break, Congress MLAs met the Speaker and said that they wanted the House to function, and requested suspension of the two BJP MLAs.

When the House reconvened, Congress MLAs stood at their places and started shouting slogans. The scene repeated after the House reconvened and then again after it met for the fourth time.

After the Opposition MLAs creating disruption in the House were ‘named’ by the Speaker, minister of state for parliamentary affairs, Pradipsinh Jadeja moved a motion for suspension of Congress MLAs for the remainder of the day. After the House passed the motion with a voice vote, the Speaker ordered removal of Opposition MLAs from the House. The Congress MLAs tore papers and threw them in the well of the House, before they were escorted out, and the Speaker adjourned the House for a further 15 minutes.

Later, as the House reconvened, the assembly discussed private members bill in the absence of Opposition members. The two MLAs - Shankar Chaudhary and Jetha Bharwad - are accused of watching obscene material on an iPad in the House on Tuesday. Both have denied the charges.
