Launching a veiled attack at Centre, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said that despite "hurdles" his government was moving ahead with its comprehensive single-point agenda of development.

Hailing women for their participation in development of the state, Modi said, "Gujarat is blessed by 'Matra Shakti', which serves as a shield for fast pace development of the state, despite all odds".

He was addressing a state-level convention for women.

Targetting the Centre, the chief minister said, "you have seen that those opposed to Gujarat are creating hurdles at every steps in development of the state. But I assure you that Gujarat government is committed to the development of people of the state".

Modi said that the anganwadi workers despite their weak economic background were performing a good job of instilling higher moral values among the children in their formative years.

"The government has allocated Rs 400 crore during the new financial year's budget to construct 12,000 Nandan Ghars (playhouses for children in Anganwadis), each provided with a cooking gas connection, across the state," he said.

Modi also presented Mata Yashoda awards to the tune of Rs 3.81 crore to 2,254 outstanding anganwadi workers, cash awards of Rs 61.04 lakh to 1,390 sportswomen, who have excelled in various national and state level events, and awards of Rs 1.04 crore to 3,339 meritorious girl students from the government's fund for their education under 'Kanya Kelavani Nidhi'.

Modi said that over 25 lakh members of 2.50 lakh sakhi mandals in the state are doing an annual business of Rs 1,600 crore.
