Lawyers in the state plan to go on a strike to support Anna Hazare and his cause.

"Thanks to the UPA government a crisis like situation has been created in the country," said Yatin Oza, president of the Gujarat High Court Advocates Association (GHCAA).

Oza said the bar members will hold an urgent meeting to decide the future course of action in this connection.

"Meanwhile, we have appealed to advocates across the state to stay away from work for the next couple of days as a show of support to Anna," he said.

Several other associations like The Bar Council of Gujarat (BCG), an apex body of lawyers in the state, Ahmedabad Bar Association (ABA), state's largest lawyers' association are some of those supporting Anna and his team.

The Ahmedabad Criminal Court Bar Association (ACCBA) has also extended there support to the crusader against corruption.

"We support any movement that will wipe out corruption from India. Few of our members, on Tuesday, requested me to plan out a protest programme in support of Anna," said Paresh Jani, president of ABA.

Jani further said they will hold a meeting on Wednesday to decide on the matter.

Anil Kella, chairman of the BCG's disciplinary committee, said it was time to rid the country of corruption.
