The Gujarat high court on Monday granted bail to HN Chavda, former GSHSEB secretary and one of the key accused in the dummy writers' case.

The court granted bail on the grounds that all the accused in the case are out on bail and investigation in the case is over.

Arguing for the bail application, BM Mankukiya said that Chavda is a government official and will not jump bail, if released.

The court while passing the order for granting the bail said that as investigation is over, it will not be possible for Chavda to tamper with the evidence.

The court further observed that other accused have also been released on bail. Chavda has been released on bail on the condition that he furnish a bond of Rs25,000 with surety.

Chavda has also been asked not to leave the state without prior permission and attend the Gujarat University Police Station every month on the 1st and the 15th. In the case two students had faked an injury and solicited the services of a writer during the board exams.
