The Gujarat high court on Friday directed the state CID (crime) not to arrest or take coercive action against senior IPS officer Kuldeep Sharma till August 23. The high court order came in the wake of the state government and the complainant seeking more time to file a reply in the case.

It may be recalled that on August 16, 2010, Justice RH Shukla of the high court had directed the CID (crime) not to arrest or take coercive action against Sharma till August 30, and had issued notice to the state government in the case. The court had passed its order while hearing the IPS officer's petition seeking quashing of the police case registered against him in a 26-year-old
encounter complaint.
