The Gujarat High Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking directions from the court for senior BJP leader LK Advani to pay attention to his Parliamentary constituency Gandhinagar.

A division bench of justices MS Shah and SD Dave dismissed the PIL yesterday filed by  KD Pandya, as they observed that the petition was 'misconceived'.  Eighty-year-old Pandya in his PIL had said that before Advani expresses his loyalty to his party (BJP) he should be loyal to electorate of Gandhinagar.

MPs in India take important decisions without consulting electorates and there is no participation on part of the citizens in the decision making process, he said.

Hence, they should be directed to take a referendum before taking important policy related decisions, he argued. The petitioner has said that Advani could build electorates forum in his constituency, which could deliberate on various issues and recommend solution to the MP.
