The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) has given three police inspectors the responsibility of registering complaints against Abhay Gandhi and two other alleged operators of Ponzi schemes in the city. Sources in the DCB said on Thursday that this had become necessary as the police expect a large number of complaints given the size of the multi-crore scams.

Police inspector (PI) SM Chaudhary will look into the cases filed against Gandhi, proprietor of AISE Capital Management, who is believed to have fled to London after allegedly cheating his 10,000 investors of around Rs500 crore.

DD Damor, another PI, will investigate cases against Shraddha Saburi Consultancy’s Haresh Panchal, who is said to be absconding with Rs100 crore belonging to 3,000 different investors.

And, finally, PI Bharat Patel will investigate cases that are likely to be filed against Imtiaz Saiyed, managing director of Imtsons Investment Ltd.  An estimated 12,000 investors have put Rs85 crore into the schemes run by Imtsons.
