Gujarat’s Anti Terrorist Squad’s top police officers were on the Huji hit list, Huji leader Mohammed Adbul Khwaja, told police under interrogation in Hyderabad on Friday.

Khwaja, one of the masterminds of the bomb blasts in Hyderabad that killed 42 persons in 2007,  was nabbed in Colombo and extradited to Hyderabad where he made the startling confession.
Khwaja said that he had been trained by Huji commandant Saeed Bilal for seven months in Pakistan, before the two left for Hyderabad and set off the bombs there. In the major terror strike in the Andhra capital on August 25, 2007, 42 persons were killed and 50 injured in twin blasts in a popular eating joint and a crowded park.

The first bomb exploded at an amusement park at 7.45pm and the next at the Gokul Chaat Shop.

Bilal fled to Pakistan via Nepal and died in a fight with fellow terrorists there. Khwaja then assumed charge of Huji, sources said.

After his interrogation is over in Hyderabad, the Gujarat police are planning to bring Khwaja to Ahmedabad for further questioning.
