The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) officials and district education officers (DEO) met on Wednesday to chart smooth execution of the classes X and XII exams starting from March 5. In the meeting, it was decided that the board will start a helpline at the district level from March 27 to counsel students in the rural parts.

In the meeting, the board approved examination centres in different pockets of state. This included around 615 centres for class XII and 351 for class X. According to board officials, this year around 5,50,118 students will appear for class XII exams and 9,26,483 for class X.

This year, the board has given opportunity to students of distant learning to appear for the examination under the Gujarat State Open School in both classes. Around 53,126 students registered under the open school will appear in HSC exam and 40941 in SSC exam.

“The board has urged the DEOs to coordinate with the collectorate office to avoid cheating cases and maintain order during the examination. Emphasis was also laid on training administrators and supervisors at examination centres,” said examination secretary GM Rabari in an official communiqué. Discussion was also initiated to train teachers in evaluating answer sheets after exams.
