GR Udhwani is new law secretary; Naroda Gam case judge transferred

The chief justice of the Gujarat high court has ordered the transfer of many senior judges in the state judiciary. MH Shah, secretary of state legal department, has been transferred as the principal district judge (PDJ) of Vadodara.

Shah has replaced AL Vakil, who has been given a charge in Valsad.  GR Udhwani, additional session judge of Ahmedabad City Civil and Session court, will now take charge as the secretary of state legal department.

SH Vora, special judge of Naroda Gam case has been transferred as registrar (information technology) in the Gujarat high court. The post of registrar (IT) had been lying vacant for a long time.
GK Upadhyay, registrar (judicial) in the Gujarat high court, has been appointed as additional city civil and sessions judge.  Upadhyay had last week faced the wrath of justice Anant Dave for putting a case of Rajesh Adani before him for hearing without following stipulated procedure. MJ Thakkar has been given additional responsibility in place of Upadhyay. The chief justice has also made many changes in his own administration by transferring judges who were working on deputation in the high court.

IC Shah, registrar (law and inquiry) has been transferred as Additional District Judge (ADJ) Veraval while BJ Dhandha, additional registrar has been posted as ADJ in Amreli.
SS Shah, member secretary of Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA) has been posted as Principal District Judge (PDJ).  VP Patel, deputy director of State Judicial Academy has been transferred as PDJ, Surat. When contacted PP Bhatt, registrar general of Gujarat HC, confirmed the transfers.
