The Union government is trying for extradition of Union Carbide chief Warren Anderson to India and has taken all possible steps for it, Union law minister, Veerappa Moily said here today.

"We have already moved on the issue of extradition of Anderson by taking the opinion of attorney general," Moily told reporters at the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee office.

When reporters pointed out to him that earlier also the government had moved a number of times on the issue, Moily said that there is difference between then and now and all efforts would be made within the law for extradition of Anderson who left the country after the Bhopal gas tragedy.

To a query whether the issue will be discussed during the US President Barack Obama's fortcoming visit, Moily said that he was not in a position to comment on the issue as it is a matter of protocol between the prime minister and the visiting head of the nation.

On the issue of Ayodhya verdict, Moily said that it is for the concerned parties to take a call on the issue and as far as the government is concerned, it is only the custodian of the disputed property.

To a question on appointment of Judges in the high court where their kins practise, the Union minister said that the Supreme Court has already identified nine such judges who would be shifted.

He further said that in future no person would be appointed as Judge in a court where his kins are practising.

Moily also informed that the Centre would called a national level convention to discuss electoral reforms soon and prior to that it will also discuss the issue by organising regional level conference at the state level.

One such meet will be organised in Bhopal, he said.

When asked about the demand for setting up high court bench in Bhopal, he said that the state government should first move a proposal to the high court. If the chief justice of the state is satisfied with the available infrastructure for the same and recommends setting up the bench, then only Centre comes into picture.
