Government bodies received over 17,800 RTI applications in Himachal

118 public authorities had received 10,105 applications during 2007-08. A fee of Rs8,07,939 was collected by various public authorities during 2008-09.

Government bodies received over 17,800 RTI applications in 2008-09 as against 10,105 pleas during previous year in Himachal Pradesh.
    
During 2008-09, 124 public authorities received 17,869 applications and 259 cases were rejected, which is less than 1.4% of the total applications, an official spokesman said today.
   
118 public authorities had received 10,105 applications during 2007-08. A fee of Rs8,07,939 was collected by various public authorities during 2008-09.
   
The Right to Information Act ensures openness and transparency and people of the state are getting the desired information quickly, the spokesman said adding the state government has directed that information be provided to the applicants on priority basis.
