Convicted prisoners in the Godhra carnage were shifted to Vadodara Jail on Saturday.

So far they were lodged in the Sabarmati prison.  Confirming about the change in prison the additional director general of police, prisons, PC Thakur told DNA that the prisoners were moved to Vadodara jail on Saturday. 

Thirty one of the convicts in the case were shifted to Vadodara Central Jail, as their trail in the Sabarmati Jail had come to an end. 

All the thirty-one prisoners were kept in the high security prisons.  "They were kept here, as the trial in the Sabarmati train carnage was being conducted in the prison itself," Thakur said.

"Now that the trial is over they were shifted to Vadodara jail," Thakur said.

Following their arrests in the case they were first kept in the Vadodara jail before being moved to the Sabarmati jail in Ahmedabad for the trial.

Sixty-three people including Maulvi Hussain Umarji listed as the main accused in the case were acquitted in the case and were released in February 2011.
