Almost a month after Yoga guru Baba Ramdev exhorted people to vote against Congress in March 3 Goa Assembly polls, his Bharat Swabhiman Nyas (BSN) unit on Wednesday said it would leave the choice to voters to select their legislators irrespective of the party they belong to.

The BSN, which was earlier perceived to be inclined towards opposition BJP, said all political parties have fielded tainted candidates.

"Few parties which had earlier promised that they will give tickets only to clean candidates have also not kept their promise," BSN's state unit working president Kamlesh Bandekar said.

When asked about BJP, Bandekar said,"when we say all parties it includes BJP as well as it too has fielded candidates who do not have a clean image."

The change in BSN's stance came in a month after Baba Ramdev had appealed to people to vote against Congress by raking up illegal mining in the state.

Quoting Ramdev, Bandekar said the people would have to choose a lesser evil compared to a giant evil in the election; an oblique reference to BJP and Congress, respectively.

"We appeal people to vote as per their conscience," he said.

Swami Ramdev will be arriving in Goa on February 26 but will not address any public meetings.

BSN said it has organised a day-long Satyagraha on February 26 at the historic Azad maidan in Panaji and is expecting over 2,000 people to participate.

Bandekar said the BSN will also hold a yajna to purify minds of corrupt people.

"We will not mind any candidate from political party joining us. But he will not be allowed to share the dais with Swamiji (Baba Ramdev)," he added.
