Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat today said he has asked the state police to give detailed information by Monday on missing Israeli drug peddler Yaniv Benaim alias Atala.

"I have discussed the matter with home minister Ravi Naik and we have asked the state police to give detailed report on the issue," Kamat told reporters this afternoon.

He said the police have been asked to give report by August 30.

Kamat, however, hinted that the police would not be blamed for his disappearance.

"He (Atala) was out on the bail and he was not asked to report to police regularly. They (police) had interrogated him thoroughly when he was in their custody," the chief minister said.

Atala, an important link in policemen drug peddler nexus case, is absconding and has jumped the bail, police have said.

Police spokesperson Atmaram Deshpande said Atala's disappearance was noticed by crime branch only on August 7 when he was wanted for some clarification.
