Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat today announced the formation of special bravery award for those people who risk their lives for the sake of humanity.

"There are few incidents which really touches your heart. In past we have seen many people risking their lives for the sake of others. We have decided to constitute a bravery award from December 19, this year onwards for such bravehearts," Kamat told an Independence day gathering today.
The chief minister was addressing people after unfurling the tri colour at Old Secretariat here to mark the occasion of India's Independence.
"We have seen people rushing for those caught up in floods without even bothering about their own lives. This award will recognise such brave acts," Kamat said.
Goa, which was liberated on December 19, 1961, almost 14 years after India's independence has decided to give this award on the liberation day.
Kamat said that the state has to work towards having consensus on various issues.
"I want that everything should be decided with consensus. There should not be a single issue which has to be decided without consensus," the chief minister said.
He said that the state is working towards a roadmap for its future and a high level committee under chairmanship of scientist Dr Raghunath Mashelkar is working on the task.
Kamat said that the state has achieved tremendous progress despite being liberated 14 years after Indian independence and missing two five year plans.
He praised state's first chief minister Dayanand Bandodkar for having a clear vision for the state.
