The special investigating team  of Goa police has found similarities between the Diwali-eve Margao blast and last year’s explosions at Vashi, Thane and Panvel. The team is also probing the links of a Goa minister’s wife with the right wing Hindu organisation Sanatan Sanstha, which is suspected to be behind all the blasts.

To quell a political fallout, home minister Ravi Naik moved in fast on Monday, saying the police are investigating the links of state transport minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar’s wife with the controversial organisation.

“Everyone involved with the Sanatan Sanstha is being investigated,” Naik said.
Dhavalikar, however, has denied that his wife has a big role in the organisation. “My wife works for the Sanstha only when she has free time. All allegations (against her) are baseless,” he said.

Meanwhile, DIG Ravindra Yadav has said the explosive devices used at Thane, Vashi, Panvel and Margao were similar.

Another common link, he said, was Vikram Vinubhave, prime accused in last year’s blasts. He had been in touch with Malgunde Patil, the administrator of Sanatan Sanstha in Goa who died in the blast, before being arrested by the Maharashtra police, he added.
On the role of the right wing organisation, he said “we have established the role of Malgunde Patil who had a history of creating communal tension in Maharashtra.”

“He was present in Sangli when the recent Hindu-Muslim riots took place in Miraj during the Ganesh festival,” the DIG stated. The SIT is now questioning the senior officials of the organisation in Goa.
