Bajrang Dal today claimed that one of its local leaders, Jayesh Naik has been falsely implicated by the Goa police in a case of murder.

Naik is accused of murdering one Sultan Bellary, a labourer from neighbouring Karnataka. Police have arrested four people, including Jayesh and his brother Rajesh Naik, in this connection.

But Bajrang Dal’s Goa convener Sharad Birajdar today told reporters that police were "targeting Jayesh because he had taken on the anti-social elements in Margao, who were enjoying police protection".

Police claimed that Naik and others killed Bellary as he was found stealing from Rajesh Naik's shop.

Dipak Gaikwad, Konkan region joint secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, too alleged today that police were framing Naik.

Investigating offices are leaking information to some reporters in this regard, to malign Naik, he said; demanding that case be handed over to some other officer.
