Despite the promises given by organisers of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009, many students faced problems on the second day of the online test. After servers crashed on the first day, Prometric, (which is conducting the test), had promised that the glitches will be fixed. However, eight students were not able to take the test at Vivekananda College due to server problem.

Even though students came two hours before time, the exam started late. Students in row no.S-25 could not take the test as their computers did not connect to the server. The management tried to solve the problem for sometime, but finally told them to leave the exam hall. They were given a complaint number and code.

Some candidates took exams at different times due to errors in screening procedure. “For some, the exam started at 11 and for others it started after 11:30 because of a problem with the photo identification system,” said Karan Mai, a final year B.Com student.

At CMR Institute of Technology, many aspirants were unable to complete the test. Their problems ranged from not getting seats to screens going blank before allotted time. “I had to go to three buildings to find out where I’d been given a seat,” said Aditi.

In Kolkata, CAT aspirants  had to deal with another flop-show.  Ninety of them were affected after one centre postponed the tests. While virus attacks disrupting the test across the country, IIM directors met Prometric officials late on Sunday to discuss the problem. Satish Deodhar, the convener of the CAT committee of the IIMs, and a faculty of IIM (Ahmedabad), said, “We are still not sure whether the test will be extended beyond the scheduled 10 days. However, the meeting between IIM directors and Prometric officials could decide the next course of action.”
