Girl crushed under car wheels in West Bengal, locals protest

The girl, identified as Pinki Das, was returning home from her tutor's place when she was knocked down by an MUV and died on the spot at Mothkol More.

A girl was run over and killed by a speeding car at Mothkol More under Dumdum police station area, triggering violent protest by locals who torched a police jeep and blocked the busy Belghoria Expressway tonight.

The girl, identified as Pinki Das, was returning home from her tutor's place when she was knocked down by an MUV and died on the spot, the police said.

Local people got enraged and obstructed the police to lift the body and set fire to a police jeep.

The blockade in the Belghoria Expressway stopped traffic movement, the sources said adding the police were trying to pacify the protestors.
