When family members initiated a search for her, they found that she had got married to a youth identified as Pintu Pathak, 23, who happens to be her neighbour.
In a surprising incident, a 13-year-old girl tied knot with her lover at a temple in Sachin. Based on a complaint registered by the girl's family, cops arrested the lover and also two women for allegedly helping him. The girl has been handed over to her father's family.
Teenager Rachna (name changed), a resident of Pandesara, went missing from her house on Monday. When family members initiated a search for her, they found that she had got married to a youth identified as Pintu Pathak, 23, who happens to be her neighbour. Shocked by this discovery, the parents registered a complaint against Pintu at Pandesara police station.
Following the complaint, police arrested Pintu along with Rachna from his house on Wednesday afternoon.
During investigations, it was found that the duo had got married at Swaminarayan temple located at Geeta Nagar in Sachin on Tuesday morning. Sources said that they were in love for past many months and had eventually decided to get married. Rachna is a class VI student at a Hindi medium school near her house.
"Rachna used to visit Shivani Patel and Sangita Patel's house, who happened to be her neighbours. These two women helped Pintu elope with Rachna and even arranged for their marriage. We are investigating the case and everything will be traced out," an official at Pandesara police station said, requesting anonymity.
Shivani and Sangita were also arrested by police later in the day. Rachna and Pintu were taken to new civil hospital for medical examinations and their reports are awaited.
Pandesara police has registered a case of abduction and rape of minor girl against Pintu and are investigating into the matter.
