Hardline Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani Tuesday said he would approach the court against a "ban" on a calendar and diary, published by his organisation Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.

"We are hopeful that we will get justice from the court in this matter as there is nothing objectionable printed in our calendar or diary," Geelani told reporters here.

The Hurriyat chairman claimed that police had raided the premises of distributors and seven book and newspaper stalls for stocking the diaries and the calendars for 2012 to be brought by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.

Geelani said there were only Islamic teachings -- from the holy Quran and Hadeeth (sayings of Prophet Mohammad) -- in these publications.

Senior police officers said they were not aware of any ban and will comment on the issue only after verifying the facts.
