A close family source says filing of suit is immature.

NEW DELHI: The Jaipur royal family property row involving Gayatri Devi, her step-sons Prithviraj Singh, Jai Singh and her grandchildren Devraj Singh and Lalitya Singh has been dismissed by sources close to Gayatri Devi as an 'immature' move by the youngsters. Gayatri Devi herself is on London currently and is expected to return in October.

A close family source told DNA, "Gayatri Devi dotes on her grandchildren. At no point has she said that the property will not be given to them. But she has been waiting for the right time. They need to be patient."

Devraj Singh, 25, son of Gayatri's late son Jagat Singh has been in Jaipur for the last few days wanting to assert his rights over Jai Mahal Palace, a family property that had earlier belonged to Jagat and was later passed on to Gayatri Devi as per a will left by Jagat. Jagat was married to Thai Princess Priyananda Rangsit but the couple had divorced when their elder son Devraj was still a minor. Priyananda had left the country and gone back to Thailand even before Jagat passed away in 1998. The children along with their mother have now demanded their rights over Jai Mahal palace and challenged the will of their father, which they call 'bogus'.

Meanwhile, Princess Priyanandana Rangsit  has filed a petition in the Company Law Board alleging that a will purportedly prepared by her husband and circulated by his step-brother Prithvi Raj Singh is "forged."    Rangsit claimed at a press meet here in Jaipur that the "forged will" came to light only after she demanded certain rights for her children Devraj Singh and Lalitya Kumari.

When asked why Gayatri Devi would not be willing to give her grandchildren their due, Rangsit said, "She has been pressurised to do so and she is under the influence of Prithvi Raj Singh (step-brother of Jagat Singh)".

This is not the first time, the Jaipur family rifts have come out in the open. Hailed as one of the most beautiful women of the world, Gayatri may have been admired by outsiders but relations with her own family have generally been sour. Gayatri had fallen out with her stepson Col Bhawani Singh and later daughter-in-law Priyananda. She was also accused of neglecting her son Jagat Singh. Priyananda had filed a defamation suit against her when Gayatri had alleged Priyananda to be the cause of her son's death in her autobiography.
