Garba organiser dies of electric shock

Navratri celebrations here took a tragic turn on Monday night when a 22-year-old youth died due to electric shock at a local garba ground in Warasia. The youth was compering a garba programme when he received electric shock. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and then shifted to SSG Hospital, where he died.

According to police officials, Jitendra Sevak Bhambhani (22), a resident of Kamlaba Society at Warasia, was among the organisers of a garba programme near a shrine in the Kot area of Warasia. He was entrusted the job of compering the programme.

On Monday night, garba had already started at the venue when he was asked to make  some important announcements. While he was making the announcements, there was a leakage of electric current in the microphone. He got stuck to the microphone, due to which he was severely injured.

The fellow organisers detached him from the microphone. After preliminary treatment, he was taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment. But he was referred to the SSG Hospital. He was taken to the SSG hospital in a critical condition, but he died soon after.
The city police have lodged a formal complaint and initiated investigations in this regard.
