Of the 50 IPS officers transferred in the major police reshuffle carried out by the state government late on Saturday night, 10 are IPS officers posted in Ahmedabad district.
Out of 6 deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) posted in 6 police zones of Ahmedabad, 4 have been transferred. As per the notification issued on April 7, DCPs of zone 1, 2, 4, and 6 have been shifted. Apart from this, the state government has also transferred one Traffic DCP, three joint commissioners of police (JCPs) and the Ahmedabad (rural) SP.
DCP, Ahmedabad Zone-1, Sandip Singh, has been transferred as SP Vadodara (rural). He will be replaced by V Chandrashekhar, SP (Bhavnagar).
DCP, Ahmedabad zone-2 HG Patel has been transferred as DCP-crime Vadodara city. He has been replaced by Tapi SP, Sharad Singhal.
AG Chauhan has been transferred from his current posting as DCP, zone-4 in Ahmedabad, to the post of SP, CID (crime) Gandhinagar. He has been replaced by Niraj Badgujar, ASP, Palanpur.
With the new posting, Badgujar has also been promoted to SP rank. DCP, Zone-6 Ahmedabad, Maninder Pawar, has been transferred as SP-Bhavnagar. His has been replaced in Ahmedabad by DCP-(SOG and ATS) PC Baranda. Nilesh Jajadia, DCP-Traffic (West) has been transferred as SP-Navsari. However, according to the notification, no one has replaced him yet.
Ahmedabad (rural) SP, Rajiv Ranjan Bhagat, has been promoted as deputy inspector general (DIG) and will take over as DIG (P&M), Gandhinagar. Bhagat will be replaced by SP Vadodara (rural), Gagandip Gambhir.
Apart from these officers, three JCPs of the city have also been transferred. These are Satish Verma, Shamsher Singh and Atul Karwal. Satish Verma, currently
JCP-Traffic, Ahmedabad, has been made principal, Police Training College, Junagadh. He will be replaced by SP Banaskantha, SM Katara.
Since the JCP cadre has been downgraded to Addl CP, Katara will be posted as Addl CP (traffic). With this posting, Katara has been promoted as Addl CP from SP rank.
Shamsher Singh, JCP-Headquarters, Ahmedabad, will now take over as DIG-Gandhinagar. He has been replaced by Sanjay Shrivastav, currently posted as JCP, Sector-2, Surat.
JCP-Sector 2, Ahmedabad, Atul Karwal, has been transferred as joint director of State Police Academy in Karai, Gandhingar. He has been replaced by SG Bhati, additional police commissioner, traffic and crime, Surat. Since the JCP cadre has been downgraded, Bhati will serve as Addl CP for Sector-2 and not as JCP.
GS Malik, DIG, Ahmedabad range, has been transferred as joint director, anti-corruption bureau, Ahmedabad.
