Four killed in Bhuj road mishap

Four members of a family, including three women, were killed when a private vehicle ran over them near Bhuj on Thursday morning, police said. Three people suffered injuries in the accident which took place at around 2:30 am.

According to police sources, eight members of a family were returning from Jasvandh village to Bhuj in a jeep. They were replacing the jeep’s flat tyre when the accident happened.

“Another jeep coming from Jasvandh ran over some of the family members who were sitting on the roadside while the tyre was being replaced. Four people died on the spot and three suffered injuries,” informed AD Asari, police sub-inspector who is investigating the case.

The deceased have been identified as Ameena Mubarka Jatt, Jenabai Abdulla Jatt, Sara Ameen Jatt and Alimamad Jatt. 

Police have registered a case of rash driving, causing damage to property and human life under Section 279, 337, 338 and 304 (A) against Sarupji Khetaji Peer, the driver of the vehicle, which ran over the family.

“The driver of the vehicle ran away from the spot but we have identified him and registered a case against him. Efforts are on to trace him,” Asari added.
