Four detained for visiting booths without papers in Kolkata

'The four persons, claiming to be independent poll observers appointed by state election commission, visited various booths as polls opened in the morning', superintendent of police Rahul Srivastava said.

Four persons were detained today on the charge of visiting polling booths without any document during polls in Salt Lake municipality, located on the eastern part of Kolkata.
           
"The four persons, claiming to be independent poll observers appointed by state election commission, visited various booths as polls opened in the morning. They were detained when they went to check a booth at Baisakhi," superintendent of police Rahul Srivastava said.
           
People living in Salt Lake municipality located in the eastern part of the city are polling in the local civic body election today.
           
So far, 13 people were arrested from various parts of North 24-Parganas district during polls to the 21 municipalities here. Polls started late in three booths of Bhatpara, Barasat and Kancharapara municipalities due to faulty voting machines.
