Former Samajwadi Party legislator shot dead in Uttar Pradesh

Kapildev Yadav was shot dead near Majhwaran in Ghosi area of Mau district this afternoon while he was going to attend a private function, DIG Prakash D said.

A former Samajwadi Party MLA and his driver were today shot dead allegedly by unidentified assailants in neighbouring Mau district, a senior police officer said here.

Kapildev Yadav was shot dead near Majhwaran in Ghosi area of Mau district this afternoon while he was going to attend a private function, DIG Prakash D said.

Devnath Yadav, the MLA's driver, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, police said.

The assailants were riding on three motorcycles and fired indiscriminately on Yadav's vehicle, they said.

Kapildev was elected to the Assembly on Samajwadi Party ticket from Nathupur assembly in Mau district.
