Flood alert in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal

It has rained heavily for the past couple of days and 47.4 mm rainfall has been recorded in the local Meteorological office, sources said.

With the main rivers like Kaljani, Teesta and Jaldhaka swelling beyond danger mark, flood alerts have been issued in Jalpaiguri district of northern Bengal.

The Kaljani, Teesta and Jaldhaka rivers have been on yellow alerts, official sources said.

It has rained heavily for the past couple of days and 47.4 mm rainfall has been recorded in the local Meteorological office, sources said.

Water has stagnated in Banarhat, Dhupguri, Chamurchi, Gadang-II, Sakoa-I blocks of the district and ten houses on the riverbank at Dhupguri have been submerged, officials said.

Tea gardens have been unaffected by the heavy rain and water stagnation.
