Flight to Mumbai delayed by 7 hours in Ahmedabad

The flight that was supposed to take off at 7 pm on Thursday evening was delayed for nearly seven hours. The traumatized passengers finally reached Mumbai at 3 am.

The one-hour journey from Ahmedabad to Mumbai turned into a nightmare for 195 passengers of a Spice Jet flight.

The flight that was supposed to take off at 7 pm on Thursday evening was delayed for nearly seven hours. The traumatized passengers finally reached Mumbai at 3 am. According to officials at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, the Spice Jet flight (SG-206) was to take off at 7 pm with 195 passengers onboard. However, sources said officials detected some technical glitch and the flight was delayed for nearly an hour. The flight took off at 8 pm but at Mumbai airport it couldn't land due to heavy congestion at the airport.

Meanwhile, the flight also ran out of fuel and was diverted back to Ahmedabad airport at 10 pm. Passengers' ordeal continued till 2 am and they finally reached Mumbai airport at around 3 am.

"There were some technical glitch when the flight was about to take off from the city airport.  The component to repair the glitch was not available in Ahmedabad and had to be brought from Mumbai. However, the airline officials served dinner to all the passengers,” sources said.
