Five more held in Maninagar ATM theft case in Gujarat

On the basis of revelations made by the two persons arrested in the State Bank of India ATM theft, cops on Saturday nabbed five more persons allegedly connected to the heist. The stolen ATM contained Rs21 lakh.

On the basis of revelations made by the two persons arrested in the State Bank of India ATM theft, cops on Saturday nabbed five more persons allegedly connected to the heist. The stolen ATM contained Rs21 lakh.

After interrogation of the duo arrested earlier, police went to in the gully near the old high court at 4am on Saturday from where they arrested Lucky alias Lajho Yadav, 23, Ankur Kulkarni, 19, Kiran alias Karan Prajapati, 23, Chirag Solanki, 28, and Jitesh Solanki 24, all living in Shahibaug. "We are interrogating the five suspects to find out if they have any role in similar ATM thefts in Mehsana and Vadodara," said PI SM Chaudhury of the Special Operations Group which is handling the case.  "There may be more than seven persons involved. We are exploring this angle," Chaudhury added.

On April 4, Hardik Jingar and Kamlesh Patel had lifted the Maninagar State Bank of India ATM, near Dakshni Soc, at Kalgi Apartments, off its hinges between 3am and 3.30am.

They took it to a secluded house but before they could prise it open, the police got them.  Having cleared all aspects of this case, the police are now moving ahead in a bid to solve similar crimes committed in Mehsana and Vadodara.
