Five involved in theft of mobile phones arrested

Five persons allegedly involved in the theft of 1,680 mobile phones were arrested in east Delhi, police said today.

Total 537 phones worth Rs16 lakh were recovered from them.

The arrested have been identified as Kamal Kishore and his associates, Yaqub Ali, Mukesh, Mohd Saleem and Mohd Sartaj. They had allegedly stolen 28 cartons containing 1,680 mobile phones on board the Nizamuddin-Bhopal express train on the intervening night of January 2 and 3.

His associates boarded the train from Nizamuddin railway station and met Kishore at the toll gate in Ballabgarh, Haryana after committing the crime, police said.

Kishore was arrested yesterday near a wine shop in Kalyanpuri on a tip off and he told police that he was on interim bail in a criminal case for four weeks and his bail ends on January 24.
