A fire broke out in a warehouse on Strand Road near Burrabazar, the business district of the city.

A fire broke out in a warehouse on Strand Road near Burrabazar, the business district of the city, early today.

A fire department official said nearly 35 engines took 10 hours to bring the blaze under control. No casualty has been reported.

The fire started on the second floor of the warehouse packed with combustible articles and spread to other floors, the official said.

On January 12, a person died and several others were injured in a devastating fire that gutted a slum near the Bidhanagar railway station in the northern fringes of the city.

Today's fire is the fifth in the last 30 days.
